Perioperative pain management and bridging to postoperative period is an important task and has a great impact on chronification of pain in the future. We present you revised algorithm using both paravertebral or epidural block in patient undergoing thoracotomy.
Review
Modern approaches of multimodal analgesic treatment are one of the must-haves of good clinical practice in anesthesiology. The educational algorithm for the treatment of pain after thoracotomy allows students to practically verify their knowledge and level of insight into the issue of post-operative acute pain. The authors describe in an attractive, illustrative way, how the anesthesiologist makes up the management of postoperative pain and how he considers and solves possible complications. I recommend this algorithm as an attractive educative medium, which excellently complements the usual teaching materials.
